The Honourable Tracy Schmidt, Minister of Education, has proclaimed October 26, 2026, as Manitoba School Library Day/Journée des bibliothèques scolaires du Manitoba. This year’s theme is “School Libraries Shine! Les bibliothèques scolaires brillent!” It highlights the many positive ways Manitoba school libraries provide welcoming, inclusive spaces where students feel represented, connected, and empowered to learn, explore, and grow.
Happy Manitoba School Library Day 2026 to all our Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) school library personnel – library assistants, library technicians, teacher-librarians, and library services support staff. Our school library personnel shine by providing equitable access to diverse resources, teaching essential information literacy skills, and creating learning opportunities that support curriculum implementation, enhance student success, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
Thank you to all LRSD school library staff for your dedication to students and staff, and for fostering thriving learning and reading communities across our school division.
