  • Design with Us: École Sage Creek School/Bonavista

Students, staff, and community members from École Sage Creek School and École Van Belleghem are invited to join architects and divisional leadership to view the preliminary concept designs for a new school building to serve Kindergarten to Grade 8 French Immersion students living in Sage Creek and Bonavista.

The presentation for École Sage Creek/Bonavista will take place on Monday, February 6 at 6 p.m. in the ÉSCS gymnasium at 315 Sage Creek Blvd, Winnipeg, MB R3X 0G4. Anyone hoping to attend, whether in person or virtually, is asked to click here to register. Limited parking is available in the staff parking lots off Sage Creek Blvd and Edward Turner Dr.

Individuals who cannot attend in-person can watch the consultation virtually through this link. The live stream of the consultation will begin at 6 p.m. It will also be recorded and posted to LRSD’s website.

    Background information

The existing school at 315 Sage Creek Boulevard does not have enough capacity to serve all Kindergarten to Grade 8 students living in Sage Creek. Currently, English Program students in grades 5 to 8 and French Immersion students in grades 7 & 8 attend schools in other neighbourhoods.

The construction of the new school will see all Kindergarten to Grade 8 students residing in Sage Creek attend school in their neighbourhood. The English program will be housed in the existing school which will be restored to its original configuration, while the French Immersion program will be housed in the new building. The new building will also serve Kindergarten to Grade 8 French Immersion students residing in Bonavista who currently attend École Van Belleghem; this will alleviate enrolment pressures there.
