  • Public Board Meeting Highlights - December 20, 2022

    Chair of the Board Sandy Nemeth called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

    Prior to the regular meeting, Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team welcomed Councillors Brian Mayes and Markus Chambers for conversation.

    Students from Nelson McIntyre Collegiate made a presentation to the Board on the student-led research in Churchill, Manitoba.  

    Trustee Palmquist provided a report from the Riel-Evate Endowment Fund Committee.

    Information and updates on seven capital school build/renovation projects that are in process was received. Communication from the Community Education Development Association was shared, and the newly released Creating a Culture of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism in the Louis Riel School Division publication was reviewed. Reference was made to the recent data gathered and released on student absences.  

    Policy JBC - Appropriate Educational Programming: Provision of In-School Support by External Practitioners received first reading.  Policy DIE-3 – Review of Contracted Audit Services was amended by board motion.  

    Based on a recommendation by the Superintendent, the board passed a motion to strongly recommend the wearing of masks in all divisional facilities, including buses. 

    Correspondence was recorded as received. 

    The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
