Collège Béliveau Students Celebrate Diversity at Culturama 2025

The gymnasium at Collège Béliveau was alive with colour, music, and the aroma of delicious foods on Friday, May 9, as students and staff came together to celebrate Culturama—a student-led event showcasing the rich cultural diversity that makes Louis Riel School Division the wonderful and vibrant community it is.

Culturama featured over 20 cultural stations thoughtfully curated by students to represent their heritage. From traditional clothing and pottery to musical instruments and home-cooked dishes, the event offered a sensory journey around the world. Students also created informative displays and participated in a lively fashion show, proudly wearing cultural attire.

“It’s really important to me,” said Grade 10 student Xymogne Aniban. “I love sharing my culture, and I love seeing people work together to show what it’s like being Filipino. It makes me feel great that people appreciate the same things I do.”

Teacher Reena Gill, who helped coordinate logistics for the event, emphasized the students’ leadership and enthusiasm. “They’re so proud of their cultures. They’re all smiling, excited to share with their friends and classmates,” she said. “This event has grown so much. We started with half the gym, and now we’ve filled the whole space with over 75 students participating.”DSC_1662.jpg

Among the many voices was Lexi Grijalva, a Grade 10 student representing Red River Métis culture. “It’s great to share my culture completely,” she said. “For Indigenous cultures, a lot of our teachings are shared through stories, not written down. So having a chance to explain and share that is really important.”

A big thank you to everyone at Collège Beliveau who made this amazing celebration such a success. Events like this foster understanding, respect, and a sense of belonging, making LRSD a vibrant and welcoming community for all. Looking forward to next year’s already!
