Growth of French Immersion in LRSD: Potential Upgrades to French Immersion Sites
The popularity of French Immersion continues to grow throughout Manitoba for a variety of reasons. In LRSD, we commissioned an external report to help us understand why our growth is especially strong. Read the full report here.
During the last three years we have made significant changes in South St. Vital, Pulberry area, and most recently École Henri-Bergeron and École Provencher to accommodate the growing numbers in French Immersion.
At this point, we have done what we can do.
We need expansions to Collège Béliveau and Collège Jeanne-Sauvé to accommodate French Immersion students. We have, at our expense, commissioned architectural plans to assist us with our needs. We do not pay for these expansions, the Public Schools Finance Board of the Province of Manitoba has this responsibility.
We have spoken with numberTEN architectural group to develop plans for potential upgrades to accommodate growth in our French Immersion programming. Please see our draft plans for Collège Béliveau and Collège Jeanne-Sauvé.
We look forward to meeting with members of the new provincial government, including our newly elected MLAs, to advocate for expanded capacity to accommodate the tremendous growth of French Immersion in the LRSD.
