Progress Update: A New School in Sage Creek

At the October 4 Board Meeting, Superintendent Michalik shared an update regarding the construction of a new school that will support students living in Sage Creek and Bonavista who are enrolled in the French Immersion program. Over the summer, the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) received design authorization for the project and was transferred the land title.

In late September, the Province of Manitoba issued a Request for Proposals for design of a kindergarten to grade 8 French Immersion school in Sage Creek. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1 and the ranking and communication of results is anticipated by mid-November.

Each of these important steps are critical in keeping the project on track with the schedule of opening a new school by September 2025.

LRSD will continue to share updates with the community on the progress of this project. Interested students, staff and parents/guardians will also be invited to provide feedback and help imagine this new learning space alongside the architect and divisional leadership during upcoming consultations.
