Louis Riel School Division prides itself on being on the cutting edge of technology for schools in Manitoba. All of our locations have Wi-Fi internet access for divisional and personal bring your own devices for use in the classroom for staff, students, and guests.

We also use technology in our communication to parents and students. All our schools, along with the Division, use X (formerly Twitter) to send updates and news we think will be of interest to you. Our Divisional Facebook page hosts events, photography, and examples of student work.

We also pride ourselves on cultivating a safe Internet environment. Our IT Acceptable Use & Safety highlights how we keep a technology-filled environment safe and productive for students.

    IT Acceptable Use & Safety

The Internet is a valuable resource for students, and students need to know how to use the Internet effectively and safely. To support students and teachers in using this important learning medium, the Louis Riel School Division requires each student to follow simple usage guides when accessing computer systems in the Division. The Louis Riel School Division's Internet and Systems Use policy contains the guidelines.

The Division believes working with parents is critical to providing a safe learning environment for students in our schools, especially when using the Internet. All students in the Division are bound by the Internet and Systems Use policy. Students must sign an Internet and Systems User Agreement at the time of registration and again at the beginning of Grade 9 with their parents.

Teachers explain the forms and policy to students at the beginning of each school year; these remain valid until the end of the Agreement.

The Division commits to education about appropriate Internet and systems use, as student safety and well-being are paramount. Schools' efforts to provide safe learning environments benefit from parents' assistance through monitoring their children's computer use at home.
