The Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) is proactively collecting information about the COVID-19 vaccination status of students five and older for the purposes of managing its COVID-19 pandemic response.
When schools are notified of a case prior to public health, they are able to respond quickly and before public health officials are able to begin their contact tracing investigation. School officials identify potential close contacts and are able to send them into self-isolation while they await confirmation from public health officials. This confirmation can take 48 hours and may fluctuate based on caseloads. Public health is responsible for determining close contacts through a case investigation.
Information about your child's vaccination status will determine whether they are permitted to attend in-person learning in the event of a positive case or an outbreak at their school while awaiting confirmation from Public Health. If you elect not to disclose your child's vaccination status, your child may be required to self-isolate in the event of a positive case or an outbreak at their school, regardless of their vaccine status. Please note that disclosure of your child's vaccination status is voluntary.
To disclose your child's vaccination status:
- Open Tyler SIS or the Tyler 360 mobile app
- Enter your parent portal log-in information
- Complete the required e-Form(s) titled COVID-19 Parental Acknowledgement and Voluntary Disclosure Form by clicking ‘View’ in the yellow bar
If you have more than one child, please ensure you complete the e-Form listed for each child.
Since launching the survey on Monday, Oct. 18, we have received several questions about how disclosure of vaccination status may affect communication about being a close contact to a COVID-19 case due to the unclear wording in the Tyler SIS survey. We have received clarification that Public Health will continue advising vaccinated individuals if they are a close contact as they will still need to monitor for symptoms. Public Health will advise who needs to self-isolate and determine if an individual is exempt from self-isolation. Remaining transparent and ensuring our community is informed are top priorities in LRSD. I apologize for any misunderstanding and encourage all families to consider completing the survey.
