As we continue to adapt to COVID-19 protocols and restrictions, there is a desire amongst sports enthusiasts to explore a safe return to sport in our schools. Members of the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) Senior Leadership Team have consulted with high school administrative teams over the past few weeks to explore a cautious and limited return to training in a few spring sports.
We continue to wait for clearer return-to-play guidelines and the strategy from the provincial government.
In the interim, high schools in the LRSD will begin to navigate practice and training sessions in a limited capacity supervised by school staff who are well-versed in COVID-19 safety protocols. As schools begin to provide more opportunities for students, families will receive updated information directly from their schools.
Once the province provides updates regarding sports in schools, the Senior Leadership Team will communicate with school administrators to ensure they have the latest information and follow all provincial health guidelines. LRSD has successfully mitigated the impact of COVID-19 in our schools, and we want to ensure that everyone connected to our schools continues to feel safe.
