On Tuesday, October 8, about 35 parent council members gathered with Louis Riel School Board Trustees and other Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) representatives for a Night of Sharing, which give attendees the opportunity to share, connect and learn.
Members of the LRSD's Community Connections Committee hosted the evening, which ran from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the LRSD Board Office.
A presentation was made by Arlene Reid, The Manitoba Association of Parent Councils Board Director,
on her experiences serving on Parent Association Councils (PAC) and in regard to the services Manitoba Association of Parent Councils provides.
Marna Kenny, LRSD Secretary Treasurer shared information on how PAC's can access funding and the policies that need to be followed.
Christian Michalik, LRSD Superintendent,
conducted a round table discussion on LRSD's Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP)
. Conversations on the four strategic priorities and how LRSD planned to achieve the goals identified in the MYSP by 2023 sparked a great deal of dialogue, thought sharing and excitement.
Aside from the sharing of information and ideas, guests were also treated to pastries supplied by the talented folks in the pastry department at the Louis Riel Arts and Tech Centre.
On behalf of The Community Connections Committee and Louis Riel School Board, we hope everyone who participated had an informative and interesting evening.
