I Read Canadian Day/Journée Je Lis Des Auteurs Canadiens is a new national day of celebration dedicated to reading books by Canadian authors, illustrators and publishers. The purpose of this inaugural event is to raise awareness of Canadian books and appreciate the “richness, diversity and breadth” of Canadian literature.
On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, readers of all ages, from all over Canada, are encouraged to spend 15 minutes reading, sharing or listening to a Canadian book of their choice. Reading “Canadian” can take place anywhere there is access to great Canadian books – including at home, school, or your local school or public library. With so many great books to choose from, reading “Canadian” is easier than ever. Board books, picture books, fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels are available in print, audio and digital formats in English, French, Indigenous languages, and many other language options around the world.
