Explore Local History with the SVHS

November 9, 2017

Interested in learning more about the heritage of your community? The St. Vital Historical Society offers the perfect opportunity for a fun and educational experience where you can explore the history of St. Vital, Louis Riel and Winnipeg!

Located in the 103-year old Firehall and Police Station on St. Mary's Road, the St. Vital Museum tells stories and presents a pictorial history of such pioneers as Victor Mager, Joseph and Marie St. Germain and St. Vital's own Louis Riel. The second oldest settlement in Winnipeg, St. Vital is full of rich history that defines turning points in Manitoba's development, and the museum provides engaging displays and historical artifacts for students and parents to enjoy.

The St. Vital Museum also recognizes some contemporary history of our community. From Indigenous and First Nations fine art to a wall of Guess Who memorabilia, visitors can explore the work of local individuals who have had an impact on St. Vital in our recent memories!

Admission to the museum is free for all visitors with donations gratefully accepted.

We look forward to working with the SVHS to offer new educational opportunities to our students and highly recommend that families and teachers visit the museum to see everything it has to offer!

For more information visit the SVHS website and check out their tours and educational services.
