On Oct. 15, Manitoba public health officials notified me about a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Darwin School. The individual was at Darwin on Oct. 7 when they may have been infectious.
The investigation by public health officials into this case has assessed the exposure as low risk. They have also confirmed that the student did not acquire COVID-19 at the school.
Based on the collective efforts of staff, students and families and adherence to the fundamentals, there have been no close contacts identified at the school level.
With our increased cleaning protocols and enhanced disinfecting routines that are in effect each day, we are confident the school continues to be a safe space for staff and students.
Once we’ve shared this news with the Darwin community, public health officials will share the official letter on their platforms.
Please note: the school cannot release the name or any identifying information, including the grade and cohort number, about the confirmed case of COVID-19 to any member of the school, community, or media.
If you have any questions in the morning, please call the school.
