Board Chair Louis Johnston began by welcoming members of the community, members of the Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) Senior Leadership Team and fellow trustees who joined the meeting via Microsoft Teams.
Darcy Cormack and Jeff Anderson, LRSD divisional principals who oversee the Learning from Home School/L'École Apprendre-chez-soi (LFHS/EACS), made a presentation to the Board. They shared that there are more than 550 students enrolled in this online school that is staffed been built inside the LRSD Board Office Legacy Centre at 900 St. Mary's Road.

The Negotiations Committee
brought a report as a standing committee. The Riel-Evate Endowment Fund Committee also shared an update. Marna Kenny, LRSD Secretary-Treasurer, provided a financial update on the first quarter.
As a standing committee item, the Board engaged in dialogue on the Multi-Year Strategic Plan, focusing on the topic of Independence that was highlighted in the 2019-2020 Annual Report to the Community. Updates were then provided on the pandemic response and an update on the Temporary Learning from Home Option that has been created for students in kindergarten to Grade 8 in English and French Immersion that is distinct from the LFHS/EACS.
Superintendent Michalik and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer Jennifer Hume were happy to report that the division's 2020 United Way Winnipeg/Riel-Evate workplace campaign exceeded its fundraising goals.
