Bill 64 and its Four-Pillar Strategy

The Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) is always committed to engaging with government and advocating for an education system that provides an equitable, inclusive and engaging environment for all students as outlined in our Multi-Year Strategic Plan

GOVERNMENT RESOURCES

On Monday, March 15, Education Minister Cliff Cullen announced Bill 64: The Education Modernization Act and the Better Education Starts Today: Putting Students First strategy. The government suggests the strategy was developed from the 75 recommendations in the Report of the Commission on Kindergarten to Grade 12 Education

If you would like to register to share your thoughts on Bill 64 before the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, please call 204-945-3636. Every Manitoban that registers is entitled to present for ten minutes. You can also submit a written presentation, should you so choose. Instructions for how to present can be found here. You can also reach out to your local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) to voice your concerns or support for Bill 64.

Your Thoughts on Bill 64

Following the release of Bill 64 and its Four-Pillar Strategy, LRSD asked staff and parents/guardians for their thoughts, questions and concerns. Here is a summary of responses so far: 


We will continue engaging with our community about Bill 64 and its Four-Pillar Strategy in the fall once we have had the opportunity to focus on what matters most: a safe return to school in the midst of a pandemic.

The LRSD Board of Trustees are distributing free, non-partisan lawn signs created by the Manitoba School Boards Association to members of our community. Contact one of our Trustees to reserve a sign.
