Schools of Choice

Whether you are within the division or outside of it, students and/or their families may wish to attend a school other than that designated for their home address.

If you reside within the Louis Riel School Division, a School of Choice (Within Division) must be completed and submitted for consideration. If you live outside the Louis Riel School Division, a School of Choice (Out of Division) form must be completed and submitted.  

These requests for transfers are considered at the school of choice based on provincial guidelines, which state that schools enroll students in the following order of priority:

  • students designated to attend that school
  • students residing in the Louis Riel School Division
  • other Manitoba students

Acceptance is also based on school population, available space and resources. School of choice requests are accepted between February 1 and May 15 for the next school year.
