How To Register

howtoregister.jpg

Registration

Kindergarten & Grade 1

register-1.pngSchools offer information sessions for parents in February or March to help them prepare for Kindergarten or Grade 1 enrolment. The Division advertises sessions in community newspapers, on school signage, and in the news feed; the schedule permits parents to attend the session for both of the English and the French Immersion Program schools in their catchment areas.

Contact your school if you miss the information sessions and wish to arrange an appointment to register your child.

The Division's schools serve specific catchment areas. Use our school locator to determine your designated school, based on your address.

Schools of Choice

Whether you are within the Division or outside of it, students and/or their families may wish to attend a school other than that designated for their home address. If you reside within the Louis Riel School Division, a School of Choice (Within Division) must be completed and submitted for consideration. If you live outside the Louis Riel School Division, a School of Choice (Out of Division) form must be completed and submitted.  These requests for transfers are considered at the school of choice based on provincial guidelines, which state that schools enroll students in the following order of priority:

  • students designated to attend that school
  • students residing in the Louis Riel School Division
  • other Manitoba students

Acceptance is also based on school population, available space and resources. School of Choice requests are accepted between February 1 and May 15 for the next school year.

For more information contact Robyn Hooper at the Louis Riel School Division Board Office.

Have you seen The Lance? Read about LRSD's new Superintendent Christian Michalik, a very cool hydrology table at St. George School, and Glenlawn Collegiate tooting its own horn about a new production inspired by a devastating fire at the school in 1993. http://ow.ly/FSXn30mQDgI
