Festival du Voyageur Activities

Yesterday’s Pancake Breakfast was an unqualified success! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy this traditional meal and to our Parent Committee for organizing it! Celebrating French culture helps our students to develop a deeper appreciation of the second language that they are learning. Meeting Léo LaTuque, official mascot of the Festival du Voyageur, and dancing to the traditional Voyageur music of the Pierre Freynet band shows them that their second language is relevant, vibrant, and fun!

The Festival du Voyageur offers an authentic context to celebrate culture. It is for this reason that we have planned a varied menu of activities over the coming week for all of our students. Activities include:

Feb. 15	Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding at Springhill (Grades 5 & 6)
Feb. 16	Pancake Breakfast (K-Grade 8)
Feb. 17	The Trial of Louis Riel Play (Grades 5 & 6)
Feb. 21	Multi-Age Festival du Voyageur Activities (K-Grade 8)
Feb. 22	Festival du Voyageur Craft (Grades 1-3)
Feb. 22	Skating and Tobogganing at Windsor Comm. Centre (Grades 4-6)
Feb. 23	Mme Diva in Concert (K-Grade 2)
Feb. 23	Voyageur Activities at Oak Hammock Marsh (Grades 3 & 4)
Feb. 23	Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding at Holiday Mountain (Grades 7 & 8)

In addition, teachers are planning special lessons related to this theme, such as making bannock. During Festival du Voyageur week, students and staff are invited to dress in traditional voyageur clothing.
