Welcome to George McDowell School's Website
Welcome to May!
May begins with our Grade 8 and 9 students participating in the World Vision 30 Hour Famine. They will start fasting at midnight on the May 1 and end with a breakfast on the morning of May 3. Tuesday, May 6 is when we invite Seniors in our community to come and visit and see what happens in our school. Our next band Booster meeting will happen on May 7 at 7:45 p.m. Plans are almost completed for the Regina trip. Our junior high students will take part in their first track meet of the month on Tuesday, May 13. All events will be held at the school. Our school-wide rooftop picture will also happen that morning. In the evening, our Parent Council will have their AGM. All are welcome.
On May 14, our Grade 6 students who are interested in joining band for Grade 7 will have a chance to try some of the different instruments. That evening, our school division will host a coach’s banquet in appreciation for all the hard work our volunteers do. On the evening of Thursday, May 15 there will be a junior high dance. The next morning, our Grade 4s are off to Orff Day. Grade 4s will be immunized on Wednesday, May 21. On May 22, our junior high students will attend their first track meet outside of the school. The next day is Dancing in the Park and our Grade 8 and 9 Band students leave for their trip to Regina.
Tuesday May 27 will be Pizza lunch and early dismissal. Junior highs will have another track meet on the 29th and we will also have our annual spring BBQ that evening. Our “Bloomers” orders (band fundraiser) will be available for pickup on the 30th.
Have a great month!
