Principal's Bulletin
Wednesday March 5, 2008March UpdateWho would believe that we are already into the month of March? January brought exams for our junior high students and February saw students and teachers throughout our school preparing for report distribution which was completed on February 29. As well, our Victor Wyatt basketball teams have had a very successful season on the court. Great sportsmanship, hard fought play combined with strong leadership has proven to be a recipe for success. We thank all players, coaches, parents, educational assistants and teachers who have supported this year's basketball teams.
On Thursday, February 14, the Parent Council hosted this year's second Family Dance evening for our Kindergarten through Grade 6 students. We thank the many parents who came, ate pizza, danced and helped supervise the event. The students truly enjoyed the evening and were still talking about the event for days after. We thank the Parent Council for their time and effort and we look forward to continuing to build on this most recent success.
On Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13 Victor Wyatt School will host our Student Progress Conferences. Parents will have the opportunity to look at work samples and have discussions with their child’s teacher about their son/daughter’s learning. Parents will get a clear picture of their child’s progress, strengths, areas needing improvement, and most importantly, strategies for achieving further improvement. Parents are encouraged to continue to maintain regular contact with their child’s teacher regarding their son’s/daughter’s progress post-conference as well.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and welcome Michelle Rowson into the position of Librarian Assistant. Michelle comes to us from Bird's Hill School and we are delighted to have her join our team here at Victor Wyatt. Welcome Michelle.
Last but not least we would like to remind you of Operation Donation which occurs annually to support Winnipeg Harvest. During last year’s campaign the schools of Louis Riel School Division donated over 20,000 items to Winnipeg Harvest! Operation Donation will run from Monday, March 3 to 7, 2008 in Louis Riel School Division. Students are asked to donate one non-perishable food item during the week. We thank Mr. Chris Enns for coordinating this event.
Stay warm, folks. Spring is just around the corner!
