Library & Media Services
A school library is an essential component of any educational institution. It is an extension of the classroom and can promote independent learning skills and lifelong reading habits.
Book Exchange
Students have the opportunity to exchange library books during class time. The number of items signed out by students is determined by grade:
| K: |
1 English book |
| Grades 1 – 3: |
1 English and 1 French book |
| Grades 4 – 6: |
1 French, 1 English and 1 magazine. |
| Grades 7 – 8: |
Maximum of 3 books, 2 of which should be French. Students may borrow 4 books if they are working on a project. |
Borrowing
Library materials are normally borrowed for a one-week period. Borrowed materials must be well cared for and returned on time.
Overdue Items
Students receive up to three notifications when books or other materials have not been returned to the library by their due date. If the item is still not returned, a bill is sent to the parents of the student. All payments made by parents are refunded if the item is returned. Library privileges are suspended until the item is returned or the bill is paid.
