Behaviour Code

The three “Rs”

  • Respect yourself
  • Respect others
  • Respect property

The discipline plan has been developed in close collaboration with the staff, administration, paraprofessionals and parents. The purpose of the plan is to ensure the success of school life at École Provencher.

General Directions

  • Students will demonstrate “savoir-vivre” (politeness, respect and courtesy) at all times.
  • Students will use appropriate language.
  • The school is not responsible for the personal belongings a student chooses to bring to school. Dangerous objects or objects that promote violence are not permitted at school. Students are not permitted to use radios, “walkmans”, MP3 players, cellphones or hand held video games while they are at school.
  • When entering in the morning and at noon, students will wait for the teacher at the designated area outside.
  • Students who are late must report to the office to obtain a late slip from the secretary before entering their classroom.
  • Cycling, roller-skating and skateboarding are not permitted in the playground.
  • Students must remove their hats when in the school.

Hallways, staircases and entrances

  • Students are requested to walk in the hallways.
  • Students are encouraged to use the right side of the staircase.
  • Students should enter and exit at their designated locations.
  • Students must keep their hands and feet to themselves.

Playground

  • Students should only leave the playground if they have special permission.
  • Students should line up when the bell rings.
  • It is not permitted to throw snow balls, rocks or other dangerous objects.
  • Students should use appropriate language.
  • Students should keep their hands and feet to themselves.

Lunch Room

  • Students should sit at their assigned table.
  • Students should clean up their area before leaving.
  • Students are encouraged to talk quietly during lunch.

If a student behaves inappropriately, a lunch report will be completed:

Report #1    Lunch supervisor speaks to student individually and a report is given to administration.
Report #2    Copy of report sent home to parents.
Report #3    Parents contacted by the school and suspension from lunch program will result.

École Provencher as a Safe and Secure Place

Respect for our children’s emotional, physical and intellectual development is important. The staff believes in fostering an atmosphere in which students and adults will feel completely secure.

Classroom Discipline Plan

The classroom plan, prepared by the teacher and the students, describes classroom expectations. Its purpose is to make classroom management easier while strongly supporting the School Discipline Plan, and the principles of restitution.

Supervision during Recess

The school will continue to ensure that a minimum of three adults will supervise each recess period. We will encourage students to enjoy themselves, respect each other, demonstrate appropriate behaviour and play with caution. To ensure that supervisors are visible during recesses, they will be wearing fluorescent orange vests.

Social Skills

All teachers at École Provencher use social skills programs to help student achieve their full potential. Programs like Second Step, Free the Horses, Lion’s Quest, Be Cool, Bully Proofing and Restitution support the development of these skills.
