Principal's Bulletin
Tuesday January 6, 2009January NewsHappy New Year and welcome back! We certainly hope you all had a wonderful holiday season filled with much fun, happiness and relaxation. We look forward to 2009 and the upcoming events, activities and the day to day hustle and bustle of the school days ahead.
We want to begin the New Year by thanking all of our School Community for their wonderful participation during our Pennies from LRSD fund raising campaign. The spirit of our 'Small School with a Big Heart' was certainly evident throughout the month of December as many food and gift donations poured into Minnetonka School. Your overwhelming generosity allowed us to once again support many needy families in our city and community.
January promises to be a busy month as we all get back in the swing of academics, atheletics and the arts. Our January assembly will be on the 27th and as always parents are welcome to attend. We will continue our focus on being good community members, aware and connected global citizens and caring individuals. We hope to see you there!
Basketball season is also now upon us. We want to offer our best wishes and thanks to the staff and community members who have agreed to volunteer and give their time to our students for the 2009 season. Once again, we expect our teams to display excellent sportsmanship, commitment to fair play and represent our school well. Good luck to all participants.
Finally, we also want to encourage all Minnetonka parents to consider attending our monthly Parent Council (MPAC) meetings held on the fourth Tuesday of every month and/or our Band Booster meetings which will begin again in 2009. Both meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and are held in the library. These meetings allow opportunities for you to demonstrate a commitment to your children's education and our school community as a whole. We wish to extend a special thank you to those who participate in these meetings and who work to sustain these valuable partnerships with our school community. I look forward to seeing new faces at our upcoming meetings.
Once again on behalf of the staff we want to wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful 2009. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you require any information or assistance. Also remember, January is a month for students to revisit learning routines. We encourage parents and students to review and discuss the goal setting conversations that have taken place since September. These parent - child conversations are a wonderful way to re-establish your child’s connection to school and to support and build their confidence as a learner. As always, we encourage parents to engage in ongoing communication with their children’s teacher.
Happy New Year!!
