Vocal Arts Update

On June 3, 60 of our Vocal Arts students presented their Annual Spring Concert. The evening featured Bruns’ 4 choral groups; J. H. Bruns Girl’s Choir, Con Brio (chamber choir), Expressions (concert choir – all choral students) and The Groove (vocal jazz ensemble). As well, 9 small ensembles (soloists, duets, trios, and combos) presented their own arrangements and performances of songs ranging from Broadway solos, to contemporary favorites.
Many thanks go out to all of the students who participated in the concert, but especially to Kanisha Cruz-Kan, Cam Cerasani and Alyssa Blackie for providing instrumental accompaniment throughout the evening. Everyone really appreciates your excellent musicianship and professionalism.

Still to come for the Vocal Arts students is the performance at the “Save the Elms” event taking place on June 15th in Assiniboine Park. Our vocal arts students will be performing as a part of the opening ceremonies for that event. The performance will be at 2:00pm at the Lyric theatre in the park. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy that day. There is no admission charged, and the day will be filled with events other than our performance.
As well, our Vocal Arts students will be signing at the J. H. Bruns Convocation Ceremony taking place on June 26 at Grant Memorial Baptist Church.

This has been a very busy year for our Vocal Arts with performances about once every month. Congratulations to all Vocal Arts students on your efforts and fine performances throughout.

Next year, our first main event will be the divisional Choral Celebration on Oct. 14.
We will hit the ground running in September!

J.H. Bruns Music Association - Updates:

The J.H.Bruns Music Assoc. is a group of parents who provide fundraising opportunities to all music students, so that money is available for the expenses of trips, such as the upcoming Brandon Jazz festival.

With each fundraiser, a portion of the money collected goes directly into that students account and can be viewed by the student outside of the music rooms. We try to give a variety of fundraising opportunities throughout the year and if for some reason you do not receive an order form they can be accessed clicking on the "Forms & Publications" tab on the right side of the home page.

Our next fundraiser will be Sobey’s gift cards. If you have any questions please contact the school or join us at our next meeting Wed Feb 13.
