              Athlete of the Year

              Awarded to 1 male and 1 female from S1, JV and Varsity athletics

• An individual that shows exceptional athletic ability in a sport/sports.
• An athlete that has exceptional results/awards in their sport/sports.
• Shows dedication and commitment to Bronco athletics.
• Has demonstrated the principles of sportsmanship and fair play.
• Is seen as an ideal role model for upcoming Bronco athletes.
• Must have participated in at least 2 bronco sports (1 must be a major sport - basketball, volleyball or hockey)

 

              Coaches Award

              Awarded to 1 athlete from each team

• Shows dedication and commitment to Bronco athletics.
• Has the ability to offer leadership and direction within their sport.
• An athlete that shows exceptional reliability towards their teammates and coaches.
• Is seen as an ideal role model for upcoming Bronco athletes both as an athlete and as a student.
• Demonstrates fair play, sportsmanship and cooperation.
• Displays a positive attitude.

 

               MVP

               Awarded to 1 athlete from each team

• An athlete that has exceptional results/awards in their sport/sports.
• Is a positive leader within their time
• An invaluable member of their team.
• Shows dedication and commitment to Bronco Athletics
• Is a versatile team player

 

               Performance Healthware Bronco Pride Award

               Awarded to only 1 bronco athlete

• A student and/or athlete that has dedicated a tremendous amount of time to Bronco athletics
• Is a positive role model throughout the school
• Encourages all athletes in various sports and commits time to going out and supporting a number of Bronco athletic events
• Has a love for sport that far surpasses the need for personal achievements.
• Student is involved in many sporting events including interscholastic events and school run events.
• A student that is always visible in the gym – before, during and after school.


 

Hall of Fame Criteria

Athletes, builders and coaches are eligible for induction into the hall of fame.
Eligibility requirements are as follows:

 

Athlete Category

To be eligible for the JH Bruns Hall of Fame an athlete must have graduated from JH Bruns or spent 2 years at JH Bruns and meet one or more of the criteria:

1. The student will represent the sport and school with distinction and excellence in athletic  competition at the league, zone, provincial, national or international level.
2. The student will have had a successful college or university athletic career.
3. The student will have made a provincial team or been recognized as a provincial all-star or participated in a provincial all-star game.
4. The student will have achieved provincial, national or international excellence in a non-school sport.
5. The student will have participated on an athletic team at the professional level.
6. Any other athletic achievement will be considered when voting on nominees.

Note: To be eligible for induction the athlete must have finished their athletic career at the university, university or professional level.

Builder Category

A coach, administrator, manager or other major contributor to the JHB athletic program will be considered. Their contribution to the program will be of an outstanding nature and they will have served sport for at least five years. To be eligible as a builder the person must have made a commitment to excellence at JH Bruns.

 

Coach Category

Any coach that has been major contributor to the JHB athletic program will be considered. Their contribution to the program will be of an outstanding nature and they will have served sports for at least five years. Outstanding achievements with particular teams will be highly considered as well as length of service to J H Bruns athletics. To be eligible as a coach the person must have made a commitment to excellence at JH Bruns and be retired from active coaching at JH Bruns.
