Welcome to École Howden

École Howden

École Howden is a vibrant and expanding French Immersion learning community comprised of approximately 360 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. We have approximately 37 staff members, including 25 teachers.

Our school serves the communities of Windsor Park and Sage Creek. We are part of the Collège Béliveau family of schools in the Louis Riel School Division. Therefore, our Grade 6 students move on to Collège Béliveau to continue their French Immersion education for Grades 7 to 12.

École Howden was founded in September, 1979.  That was when it changed from Howden School, an English elementary school founded in 1965, to a French Immersion school.

Here is our mission statement that our community created and adopted in November, 2013:

École Howden provides a safe, inclusive

and engaging learning environment.

Through mutual respect and a passion for learning,

staff, parents and the school community

work together to fulfill our commitment

to high levels of success for all of our children,

as they grow and learn in our French milieu.

Here is our vision statement that was adopted in February, 2014:

Guided by our mission, École Howden

is committed to being a caring community

where students, staff and parents work collaboratively

towards maximizing the full potential of each child.

Our students will be engaged, respectful and active learners

who are equipped with strong self-management skills,

and driven by a clear sense of social responsibility.

They will become confident citizens

who proudly and effectively learn and communicate

in French and English.

In order to fulfill our commitment
to high levels of success for every child:

School staff will work interdependently

to engage all students and promote sustainable learning

through innovative, systematic and research-based practices.

Parents will partner with staff

to provide authentic learning experiences for their children,

both at home and through involvement in school life.

If you are interested in visiting our school or would like to know more about us or the French Immersion program, please contact us. You may also visit the Louis Riel School Division's website to learn more about our French Immersion program.
