About Us

Built in 1975, École Guyot is a one-storey school located near the Seine River. The students are drawn from its designated catchment areas within Southdale, Island Lakes, Royal Wood, as well as a small number of non-resident students. Two hundred and eighty-six students are currently attending the school.

The language of instruction is French 100% of the time for students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 and 80% of the time for students in Grades 2-6. English Language Arts, which accounts for 20% of the instructional time, is the only subject taught in English.

French is the language of communication among all staff and students. Communication between school and home is in English. This occurs in the form of newsletters, report cards, parent-teacher conferences, and notices.

Guyot-Howden Pre-Kindergarten Inc. offers a French Immersion Pre-School Program for 3 and 4-year-old children. As well, a YM-YWCA Before-and-After-School Program for school-aged children and a half day afternoon or morning Program for Kindergarten students is housed in the building.
