Physical Education
KINDERGARTEN
Classes are taught by the Physical Education specialist for 100 minutes per cycle.
GRADE 1-6
Physical Education is taught by the Physical Education Specialist for five, 30-minute classes per six-day cycle.
GRADE 7-8
Physical Education is taught by the Physical Education Specialist for four classes per six-day cycle. Classes are 40 minutes in duration.
Frontenac School follows the Manitoba Curriculum Guide regarding the goals of the Physical Education program.
Physical Education Goals are to:
- develop physical well-being
- develop desired movement patterns and individual and team skills
- express ideas, thoughts and feelings with confidence through physical activity
- develop independence in pursuing physical activity throughout life
- develop positive social interaction through a variety of physical activities
- develop safety and survival practice
- ensure a healthful lifestyle
Each year, students work through a series of progressions to strive for goals, both during class instruction and intramural activities.
INTRAMURALS
Intramural activities at Frontenac School consist of organized league play either before or after school or during the lunch hour. Intramurals are offered to each grade once per cycle during the lunch hour.
Students in Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8, have may participate in a comprehensive program of intramural sports activities conducted before or after school or during the lunch hour. Activities include Indoor Soccer, Running Clubs, Football, Team Handball, Volleyball, Basketball and Floor Hockey. Activities will vary from year to year.
INTERSCHOOL
Our Grade 7 and 8 students may participate in interschool programs such as Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Team Handball and Track & Field. School uniforms are provided for the students, or they may choose to purchase a uniform for themselves.
