Music K - 5

Frontenac School offers a General Music program for all K-5 students. All students have between 90-105 minutes of music per six-day cycle. In our program, the playing of instruments, listening, moving, and creating are all part of the approach used to develop the child’s musical skills. Various instructional approaches are incorporated including Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze. A strong emphasis is placed on vocal skills with the opportunity for students to sing in the Grade 3-5 choir. Other musical opportunities include:

• African Drumming Club
• Recorder Ensemble
• Orff Ensemble.

In Grades 4 and 5 students study the recorder. We request that students purchase their Yamaha Recorder through the school at a cost of $6 to ensure that students have the correct fingering.
