FACILITIES
Frontenac’s library is an active centre for the school community. It houses support materials ranging from books (fiction and non-fiction) to periodicals to computers. There are four student computers used by students for work on individual projects and to search the Library automated system for items in the library. Adjacent to the library is the Computer Lab, which accommodates classroom-sized groups of 27 students. Printers and scanners are also available for student-generated projects.
LIBRARY PROGRAMMING
The program is designed to support resource-based learning. Frontenac’s Teacher Librarian follows an open timetable to allow for flexible scheduling. This flexibility enables working in partnership with teachers to cooperatively plan and teach activities such as units or themes in various subjects. Activities take place in both the library and the computer lab. Students are welcome to take books/periodicals home from the library for one six-day school cycle. Items may be renewed if necessary.
STAFFING
Frontenac’s library is staffed by a half-time Teacher-Librarian and by a full-time Library Assistant. We are most grateful for the parent volunteers who help card and shelve books as well as a variety of other jobs as needed. We are always seeking new volunteers, so please keep the library in mind. This is an excellent way to become involved in your child's education.
