Principal's BulletinTuesday May 13, 2008May 2008Dear parents,The Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees that was scheduled for Tuesday April 29, 2008 has been cancelled. That meeting was to have been the first of two public meetings of the Board of Trustees for the Louis Riel School Division. The Archwood School Review Committee shared with you its recommendation regarding the future of Archwood School just prior to spring break. Those recommendations also went to the Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Terry Borys. Mr. Borys was to have made his recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding Archwood School as well as the other issues under consideration in the Riel Project at the above public meeting. The reason for the cancellation is that the Division has just learned that the Minister of Education, Citizenship & Youth has introduced "Bill 28- The Strengthening Local Schools Act" in the Legislature. The Bill would institute a moratorium on school closures in Manitoba. The division will be evaluating this and will keep parents informed around the issues. I would also like to remind you that seniors and grandparents are invited to Archwood on May 6th. Students are eager to have their grandparents visit them for the day in their classrooms.
