Educational Psychiatric Services

The Division has access to the services of a psychiatrist from the Educational Psychiatric Services of the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre. With informed consent from parents, this Psychiatrist works with students who may require further assessment and service in the area of Psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. As a result, a student and his or her family may be referred to other services available within the Provincial Mental Health System.

The referral process involves discussion at the school team level and signed consent by the parent. All referrals are reviewed by the Psychiatrist and the Director of Clinical Services prior to being sent to Educational Psychiatric Services. The assigned Psychiatrist sees students and parents at the Monterey Office on a weekly basis. Other appointments may occur at alternative office spaces outside the Louis Riel School Division.
