What a great way to start the month after a fantastic run by our Olympic athletes! February was busy with many activities including our Open House presentations for post-secondary institutions, our annual Festival du Voyageur Pancake Breakfast, the Grade 7 ski trip, volunteering and enjoying activities at the Festival du Voyageur, a benefit concert for Haïti and our very own version of Olympic activities including WiiSki, bobsledding and medal counts. All activities were a great success! Thanks to all our volunteers and supporters of each of these events.

This month, we are looking forward to the following:

Operation Donation

Operation Donation is underway. Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items to support Winnipeg Harvest's food drive this year. Our goal is to bring 1000 food items to the Louis Riel School Division Board Office for the drop-off this month. If we reach this goal, students will be awarded an extra half hour of lunch time in appreciation of all their hard work! As part of this initiative, each PEP class will also be awarded points based on the number of items that they collect, which will be attributed to their school colour. Let's go, Team Bleu!

Grade 7 Transition Presentation

Parents and Grade 6 students from our feeder schools including École Howden, École Van Belleghem, École Guyot, École Henri-Bergeron and École Provencher are invited to attend a presentation at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 in our gymnasium to learn more about the transition process as the students leave their elementary schools to attend Collège Béliveau in Grade 7. All are welcome.

Trip to France

On March 22, 64 students and a number of teachers will be leaving Winnipeg to travel to France. Once there, they will take in the sights in Paris, Nice, Avignon and many other interesting destinations full of history and culture. We wish them a safe trip and an exciting journey.

Presentations

Thanks to the support of the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg, Greg Woods will be presenting The Illusion of Drugs to our students in Grades 7 and 8 on Friday, March 5. Then, on March 9 & 10, the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba (AFM) will be here to make a presentation to the students in Grades 7 and 8 about drugs and appropriate choices.
