Partners in Education

The Division hopes that students perceive their education is much more than classroom studies. Through our community partnerships, students receive the opportunity to meet and work with members of our community workforce. This awareness fosters an understanding and appreciation for the diligent and remarkable work people do.

It's All About Me

The Louis Riel School Division celebrates the "It's All About Me" program—an educational partnership between the Division and the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre.

This program design supports health and science literacy for Middle Years students and their teachers, by connecting science learning in the classroom with the research currently performed at the Research Centre.

Students reviewed patient cases to investigate the biology and science behind symptoms and diagnoses with inquiry-based activities. Twelve schools received a "Scientist in Residence," and 94 sessions were held in 61 classrooms involving more than 2,000 students.

Other program initiatives included tours of the Research Centre, professional development opportunities for Middle Years teachers, presentations for parent councils and involvement in school science fairs.

The Division strives to establish and maintain partnerships with its community; when people come together to learn, we all benefit.
