Technical & Vocational Education

The Louis Riel School Division recognizes that, to serve student needs most effectively, a variety of educational opportunities encourages them to develop various learning strengths and styles. The demand for citizens who are "literate and capable" includes the skills that focus on highly specific vocational and technical career pursuits.

Although the Division's senior high schools offer various courses for all students to access Technical–Vocational Education (TVE) credits, two educational facilities provide intensified opportunities for TVE while permitting participating students to acquire academic high school credits:

• The Louis Riel Arts & Technology Centre, which has recently enhanced and expanded course offerings
• The Winnipeg Technical College, with whom a partnership has existed for over two decades to allow divisional students to access programs

Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth is also developing new initiatives in TVE, and the Louis Riel School Division will provide access for students within the curriculum framework that results from those efforts. Further information will be available in the near future.
