Student Accident Insurance

The Louis Riel School Division and the Manitoba Association of School Trustees are committed to the health and welfare of students. Informing parents about different options for student accident insurance assists their informed decisions.

In September 2006, all students in the Division will automatically be insured under the new universal student accident insurance program - a program that provides coverage while students are in attendance at school. It is designed to complement voluntary student accident insurance, but not replace it.

Voluntary student accident insurance offers additional support for parent(s)/guardian(s), including those who already participate in an employee benefits program that provides health and dental coverage.

Every family's needs are unique. The Manitoba Association of School Trustees Student Accident Plan, managed by HED Insurance and Risk Services, offers various voluntary policies to allow parents to choose the best plan for their children. Whether for out-of-country hospital benefits or total permanent disability protection, appropriate student insurance can assist families to manage urgent medical situations.
