IT Acceptable Use & Safety
The Internet is a valuable resource for students, and students need to know how to use the Internet effectively and safely. To support students and teachers in their use of this important learning medium, the Louis Riel School Division requires each student to follow simple usage guides when accessing computer systems in the Division. The Louis Riel School Division's Internet and Systems Use policy contains the guidelines.
The Division believes that working with parents is critical to provide a safe learning environment for students in our schools, especially when using the Internet. All students in the Division are bound by the Internet and Systems Use policy and are required, with their parents, to sign an Internet and Systems User Agreement, in Kindergarten, Grade 4, and again in Senior 1.
Teachers explain the forms and policy to students at the beginning of each school year; these remain valid until the end of the Agreement.
The Division commits to education about appropriate Internet and systems use, as student safety and well-being are paramount. Schools' efforts to provide safe learning environments benefit from parents' assistance through monitoring their children's computer use at home.
